Patch 68 went live today at , launching Season 25 and introducing Infestations — new encounters where enemy factions seize locations across all six regions of Appalachia. Defeating the Infestation boss guarantees a 4-Star Legendary drop, with a chance at exclusive new mods like Vector (armor) and Tarnished (weapons).
Infestation Frenzy
June 2 – June 16, 2026
For the first two weeks after launch, Infestations spawn at an accelerated rate. Check your Paper Map for general area markers, then join an Exploration Public Team so you can fast-travel directly to a teammate who locates one.

June's axolotl of the month begins today at . The Banded Axolotl is a small fish found only in the Mire and Toxic Valley during June.

Mutation breakdown:
- Piercing Gaze — Enemies detect stealthed players; Chameleon armor and Stealth Boy effects are negated entirely.
- Swift-Footed — Enemies move significantly faster than normal, closing distance to you quickly.
Strategy: Leave stealth builds in the stash — Piercing Gaze makes cloaking useless here. Swift-Footed Fanatics will rush your position hard in Vault 94's tight corridors, so bring a high-damage automatic weapon or shotgun for close-range burst. For Uplink mode, interact with each uplink terminal to begin the transmission, then hold the area until it completes before moving to the next — avoid wandering mid-transmission as Fanatic waves will interrupt you.

- Build a Bed, Table, or Stairs (x3): Open your CAMP or drop into any Workshop and place three basic items; wooden beds and wood stairs are cheap to craft and count immediately.
- Collect a Burnt Book (x10): Hit houses, schools, and libraries — Charleston Capitol Building, Grafton, and Morgantown High School all have dense book spawns. Grab extras for the weekly x25 count.
- Complete an Infestation while on a Team: Join an Exploration Public Team, check your Paper Map for the nearest Infestation marker, and fast-travel to a teammate who found one. Infestation Frenzy means spawns are faster than normal this week.
- Kill a Mirelurk (x5): Summersville Lake, Riverbend Station, and the shores near Point Pleasant all have reliable Mirelurk spawns.
- Kill an Enemy during an Infestation while on a Team (x3): Overlaps directly with "Complete an Infestation while on a Team" — knock out both challenges in the same run.
- Scrap a Board Game: Board games drop at homes and campsites across Appalachia; pick one up during your Burnt Book run and scrap it at any workbench.

- Craft any Chems (x6): Stimpaks at a chemistry station count; you can craft them one at a time to maximize the counter with minimal ingredients.
- Kill a Mirelurk (x30): Pair with the daily x5 kill across server hops near Summersville Lake or Point Pleasant over several days.
- Kill an Enemy during an Infestation while on a Team (x10): Overlaps with the x5 Infestation completion weekly — running five Infestations with a team will knock out both challenges simultaneously.
- Sell a Weapon to an NPC vendor (x15): Keep low-value pipe pistols or combat knives in your stash and sell them one at a time to any NPC merchant to rack up vendor transactions quickly.
