Daily Fallout 76 Briefing - May 23, 2026

The Big Bloom event and Minerva's Big Sale at Whitespring are both active today. Daily Ops sends squads underground to Uncanny Caverns for Uplink against Mole Miners with Piercing Gaze and Active Camouflage. Insect kills stack across daily and weekly challenges — Big Bloom runs are the efficient play this weekend.

Active Events Today

The Big Bloom Event

May 19 – June 2, 2026

Giant mutant flowers are blooming across Appalachia, spawning waves of insects and overgrown vegetation. Participating in this event knocks out both the daily and weekly insect-kill challenges simultaneously — and community reports confirm the second phase requires burning the overgrown, so bring fire damage or incendiary ammo to avoid getting stalled there.

Minerva's Big Sale (List 12) + Murmrgh's Special Pick

May 21 – May 25, 2026

Minerva is stationed at Whitespring with her four-week consolidated Big Sale plus Murmrgh's Special Pick. Her inventory is discounted 25% versus standard vendors and covers Settlers, Raiders, and Vault 79 (Regs) plans, Daily Operations reward plans, and Nuclear Winter mode plans. Sale ends Monday, May 25 at 12:00 PM ET — last chance before she moves on.

Today's Daily Ops

ModeUplink
LocationUncanny Caverns
EnemiesMole Miners
MutationsPiercing Gaze, Active Camouflage

Mutation breakdown:

  • Piercing Gaze — Mole Miners can detect players through stealth and camouflage effects; stealth builds lose their primary advantage in this run.
  • Active Camouflage — Mole Miners periodically turn invisible, becoming harder to track and target until they decloak.

Strategy: Both mutations punish stealth-heavy loadouts today — your camouflage is countered and enemies can cloak themselves in return. Swap to a high-DPS or AoE weapon and rely on VATS to lock onto cloaked Mole Miners the moment they decloak. Uncanny Caverns' tunnel geometry creates natural bottlenecks near Uplink terminals; explosives, flamers, or explosive-legendary weapons help clear clustering miners before they interrupt the uplink sequence.

Today's Daily Challenges

ChallengeSCORE
Gold Star: Complete a Daily Challenge (x6)1000
Harvest a Firecap (x5)250
Catch a Fish in the Burning Springs Region (x2)250
Collect Energy Ammo (x10)250
Collect a Fuel Tank or Gas Canister (x2)250
Complete a Daily Operation!250
Kill an Enemy in the Burning Springs Region (x5)250
Kill an Insect during The Big Bloom Event (x5)250

Quick completion tips:

  • Gold Star: Complete a Daily Challenge (x6) — Any 6 of the 7 non-Gold-Star dailies count; plan your session to hit the overlapping ones first and the Gold Star lands automatically.
  • Harvest a Firecap (x5) — Firecaps are glowing fungi that grow on the floors of mines and caves throughout Appalachia. Check mine interiors in the Ash Heap and cave systems in the Forest or Mire regions; they concentrate near damp tunnel floors and underground passages.
  • Catch a Fish in the Burning Springs Region (x2) — Head to any river or pond within the Burning Springs (Ohio) region and use fishing gear. Rivers near Highway Town and the broader Ohio zone have fishable nodes.
  • Collect Energy Ammo (x10) — Loot Fusion Cells, Plasma Cartridges, or Gamma Rounds from robot enemies (Protectrons, Assaultrons), raider drops, and vendor machines. Two or three robot kills typically cover this.
  • Collect a Fuel Tank or Gas Canister (x2) — Both are common junk items found in garages, gas stations, and industrial facilities. Any auto repair shop or roadside gas station across Appalachia has these.
  • Complete a Daily Operation! — Run today's Uplink op at Uncanny Caverns; this also counts as one of the six challenges needed for the Gold Star.
  • Kill an Enemy in the Burning Springs Region (x5) — Fast-travel to Highway Town or any Burning Springs location and engage the first enemies you encounter; any enemy type counts toward the five kills.
  • Kill an Insect during The Big Bloom Event (x5) — Join an active Big Bloom event and kill insects (Bloodbugs, Radscorpions, Stingwings) during the run. This also contributes directly toward the weekly insect-kill challenge.

Quick completion hints:

  • Complete a Gold Star Daily Challenge! (x3) — Complete the daily Gold Star challenge on 3 separate days this week; today's run counts as the first tick.
  • Repeatable Under Rank 100: Gain XP (x10000) — Any XP source counts; event completions, quests, and Daily Ops all accumulate quickly toward the 10,000 threshold.
  • Repeatable at Rank 100 or above: Complete a Public Event (x3) — Attend any 3 public events shown on the map; events like One Violent Night, Eviction Notice, or Radiation Rumble respawn throughout the day.
  • Build light sources in a Workshop or C.A.M.P. (x9) — Build any 9 light fixtures in your CAMP or at a captured Workshop. Budget options like wall lanterns or desk lamps craft cheaply from common materials and count toward the nine.
  • Collect Caps (x2500) — Normal event and vendor activity accumulates caps naturally; selling surplus junk and food to NPC vendors accelerates the total.
  • Collect a Teapot (x5) — Teapots are junk items found on kitchen shelves and in diners and homes across Appalachia. Sweep through Forest region residential buildings and diner counters; each building typically yields one or two.
  • Collect a Teddy Bear (x9) — Teddy Bears appear in homes, schools, and Vault rooms throughout Appalachia. Charleston and Flatwoods residential areas have multiple interior buildings worth clearing; looting a neighborhood row nets several quickly. Note: community reports suggest safes may no longer reliably drop challenge items, so target direct loot containers and shelves instead.
  • Complete the Event: "The Big Bloom" (x5) — The Big Bloom is active through June 2; completing it 5 times across the week simultaneously feeds the insect-kill weekly challenge with each run.
  • Kill a Mirelurk (x30) — Mirelurks cluster at water bodies: Summersville Lake, Lakeside Cabins, and rivers in the Mire. The "Line in the Sand" event near Fort Defiance also produces mirelurk spawns in volume.
  • Kill an Insect during The Big Bloom Event (x30) — Each Big Bloom event run contributes insect kills directly; completing the x5 event weekly in parallel puts a significant dent in this counter per session.
  • Plant a Crop in a Workshop or C.A.M.P. (x25) — Build 25 crop plants in your CAMP or at a captured Workshop. Corn, Carrot, or Mutfruit plants are cheap to construct; capturing a public Workshop lets you plant in bulk without drawing on your CAMP budget.
  • Sell Scorchbeast Steak to an NPC vendor — Kill a Scorchbeast (found at active nuke blast zones or near Fissure Site Prime in the Cranberry Bog), collect Scorchbeast Meat, cook it at any Cooking Station into Scorchbeast Steak, then sell it to any NPC vendor — not a player vendor.
