The Big Bloom

The Big Bloom runs hourly at Susan's Cabin on the Cranberry Bog / Skyline Valley border through June 2. Completing one run satisfies today's daily challenge; five completions over the week tackle a separate weekly, and killing 30 insects (Beezlebabies and other overgrown) during runs ticks another. Fire weapons work best against the plant-type enemies.

Minerva's Big Sale (List 12) at Whitespring

May 21 – May 25, 2026

Minerva's quarterly Big Sale is live at Whitespring (outside the main entrance) through Mon, May 25, 2026, 04:00 PM UTC Monday noon ET — three days remain. All 12 rotation lists are combined at 25% off, including T-65 Power Armor pieces, Hellstorm Missile Launcher, Solar Armor, Crusader Pistol, and Turbo-Fert Fertilizer. These plans cost less here than anywhere else in the game.

Purple Axolotl (May 2026)

May 5 – June 2, 2026

The Purple Axolotl spawns only in Skyline Valley and Cranberry Bog through June 2. With today's fishing and kill challenges both sending you into the Cranberry Bog, cast a line there to potentially pick up the monthly axolotl alongside your challenge completions in a single trip.

Today's Daily Ops

Mutation breakdown:

• Savage Strike — Enemies deal significantly increased melee damage. Blood Eagles that close into melee range hit much harder than normal; keep distance and use ranged weapons to prevent rushes.
• Freezing Touch — Enemies apply a cryo slow on hit that builds toward a full freeze. Avoid taking fire from multiple enemies simultaneously; move laterally and use cover to limit hits and reduce freeze accumulation.

Strategy: In Decryption mode, locate and eliminate specially-marked Decoder enemies, collect their carried code fragments, then upload them at the terminal objective. Clear the area immediately around the terminal before interacting — Blood Eagles will mob you during the upload animation. Savage Strike makes any Blood Eagle that reaches melee range dangerous, so use the Glassed Cavern's corridors to funnel and engage at range. Freezing Touch becomes a serious threat if you are caught in the open taking fire from several enemies at once; fall back to cover when movement begins to slow and eliminate the closest threats before continuing the upload.

Quick completion tips:

• Gold Star: Complete a Daily Challenge (x6) — Finish any 6 of the remaining 7 challenges today to claim the 1000-SCORE Gold Star.
• Collect Purified Water (x5) — Loot Purified Water from coolers and containers throughout Appalachia, craft it at a water pump, or buy it from the Whitespring vendor bots.
• Catch a Fish in the Cranberry Bog Region (x2) — Equip a fishing rod and fish any stream or pond inside the Cranberry Bog region boundary; the rivers running through the bog work reliably. Two catches completes it. The Purple Axolotl also spawns here, so stay alert for the special catch notification.
• Complete the Event: "The Big Bloom" — Join The Big Bloom at Susan's Cabin (Cranberry Bog / Skyline Valley border) when it fires on the hour; watch the map for the event notification.
• Cripple a Super Mutant's Leg (x2) — Use VATS to target the leg hitbox on Super Mutants; Huntersville in The Mire offers a dense camp, and Grafton in the Forest also hosts regular Super Mutant spawns.
• Drink Nuka-Cola Cranberry (x2) — Nuka-Cola Cranberry spawns in coolers, vending machines, and grocery store shelves across Appalachia. The Whitespring mall interior and Camden Park area are reliable sources.
• Harvest a Wild Plant or Fungi (x12) — Pick any wild flora (wild blackberries, wild carrot flower, firecracker berries, bloodleaf, etc.) from bushes in any region; the Forest and Toxic Valley have dense clusters. Twelve harvests goes quickly.
• Kill an Enemy in the Cranberry Bog Region (x5) — Blood Eagles, Scorched, and Mirelurks are plentiful in the Cranberry Bog. Combine with the fishing challenge for a single-trip sweep.

• Complete a Gold Star Daily Challenge! (x3) — Earn the Gold Star each day by finishing 6 of the 7 non-star daily challenges; three Gold Stars are needed across the week.
• Repeatable Under Rank 100: Gain XP (x10000) — Any XP-granting activity qualifies; Daily Ops runs and event completions are the fastest sources.
• Repeatable at Rank 100 or above: Complete a Public Event (x3) — The Big Bloom, Scorched Earth, or any active public event counts; three completions this week satisfy this.
• Build light sources in a Workshop or C.A.M.P. (x9) — Place 9 light items (lanterns, wall sconces, camp lights, neon signs) in your CAMP or at a captured Workshop.
• Collect Caps (x2500) — Sell legendaries and junk at vendors, complete events with cap rewards, and browse player vendor shops; total accumulation toward 2500 caps over the week.
• Collect a Teapot (x5) — Teapots spawn on shelves and tables in pre-war homes and kitchens across the Forest and Ash Heap. Check Morgantown and Lewisburg area interiors.
• Collect a Teddy Bear (x9) — Teddy bears appear in homes, hospitals, and containers throughout the Forest and Toxic Valley. Greenbrier and Charleston area buildings often have multiple per visit.
• Complete the Event: "The Big Bloom" (x5) — The Big Bloom fires hourly at Susan's Cabin through June 2; five completions across the week satisfies this challenge.
• Kill a Mirelurk (x30) — Mirelurks cluster near the Ohio River banks, Summersville Lake, and Cranberry Bog ponds. Stack runs alongside today's Cranberry Bog kill challenge.
• Kill an Insect during The Big Bloom Event (x30) — Beezlebabies and other overgrown insect types in The Big Bloom count; run this alongside the Big Bloom completions (x5) to knock out both challenges simultaneously.
• Plant a Crop in a Workshop or C.A.M.P. (x25) — Place 25 crop plots (mutfruit, corn, razorgrain, etc.) in your CAMP or at a captured Workshop's planting spots.
• Sell Scorchbeast Steak to an NPC vendor — Craft Scorchbeast Steak at a cooking station using Scorchbeast Meat looted from Scorchbeasts (nuke silos or Cranberry Bog), then sell one to any NPC vendor at Whitespring, Foundation, or Crater.
