Active Events Today
The Big Bloom Event
May 19 – June 2, 2026
The Big Bloom is active through June 2, spreading insects across Appalachia. Running The Big Bloom public event is the most efficient way to clear both daily and weekly challenges simultaneously — insects killed during the event count toward the daily completion challenge and the 30-kill weekly tracker.
Today's Daily Ops
| Mode | Decryption |
| Location | Valley Galeria |
| Enemies | Blood Eagles |
| Mutations | Savage Strike, Danger Cloud |
Mutation breakdown:
- Savage Strike: Enemies deal increased melee damage and will rush aggressively into close range. Blood Eagles armed with melee weapons will close the gap fast — maintain distance and avoid letting them swarm the terminal.
- Danger Cloud: Enemies release a lingering toxic gas cloud on death. Do not stand in the cloud; move away immediately after a kill before looting or repositioning.
Strategy: Decryption mode tasks you with holding position at the network scanner terminal while Blood Eagle waves attack. Keep ranged builds at mid-range to punish Savage Strike rushers before they reach you. When enemies fall, step back to avoid Danger Cloud exposure before moving in. Coordinate with teammates to cover multiple approach angles on the terminal and clear stragglers quickly to prevent toxic clouds from accumulating in your hold position.
Today's Daily Challenges
| Challenge | SCORE |
|---|---|
| Gold Star: Complete a Daily Challenge (x6) | 1000 |
| Scrap junk to produce Gears (x5) | 250 |
| Complete the Event: "The Big Bloom" | 250 |
| Consume an Alcoholic Beverage while on a Team (x5) | 250 |

| Join a Team with another Player | 250 |
| Kill a Creature while in a Team (x10) | 250 |
Quick completion tips:
- Gold Star: Complete a Daily Challenge (x6): Finishing any six of today's other challenges unlocks this automatically — the team-based challenges below chain together efficiently.
- Join a Team with another Player: Open the Social menu and accept or send a team invite. Completes instantly and enables all the team-based challenges listed here.
- Kill a Creature while in a Team (x10): Any creature kill while in a team counts. Run The Big Bloom event with a team to knock this out alongside the event completion challenge.
- Complete the Event: "The Big Bloom": Head to The Big Bloom event and complete one run. This also chips away at the weekly "Complete the Event: The Big Bloom (x5)" challenge.
- Consume an Alcoholic Beverage while on a Team (x5): Craft or loot any alcoholic drink (Beer, Bourbon, Vodka, Nuka-Cola Dark) and consume five while on a team. The Wayward bar and NPC vendors sell basic alcoholic beverages.
- Eat a Cooked Meal in a Teammate's C.A.M.P. (x5): Visit a teammate's CAMP, use their cooking station to prepare any cooked food item, and eat five portions. Brahmin Steak, Pork n' Beans, or simple cooked meats all count.
- Scrap junk to produce Gears (x5): Gears are produced by scrapping typewriters, fans, desk fans, and other mechanical junk. Watoga's office buildings and the Grafton Steel area have heavy concentrations of mechanical loot.
- Deal a Critical Hit to an Enemy using Automatic Weapons in VATS (x5): Equip any automatic weapon, enter VATS, let the critical meter fill (or use Luck perks), then trigger a VATS critical. Repeat five times — Daily Ops waves give plenty of targets.

Quick completion hints:
- Complete a Gold Star Daily Challenge! (x3): Complete today's Gold Star (six dailies) on three separate reset days this week. Running through the daily list above is one day's contribution.
- Complete the Event: "The Big Bloom" (x5): The Big Bloom runs through June 2 — five runs is spread over two weeks. Each run also stacks progress on the insect-kill weekly below.
- Kill an Insect during The Big Bloom Event (x30): Combine with the x5 completion weekly. Each Big Bloom run produces many insect kills; five complete runs will carry most or all of this to 30.
- Kill a Mirelurk (x30): Mirelurks spawn reliably at Summersville Lake, river banks in the Forest region, and throughout the Cranberry Bog. Events in swampy areas also produce Mirelurk spawns.
- Collect a Teapot (x5): Teapots spawn as world loot in kitchens and on shelves. Pre-war homes, The Wayward interior, and Flatwoods houses are reliable spots for five.
- Collect a Teddy Bear (x9): Teddy Bears appear in beds, on shelves, and in containers throughout Appalachia. Schools (Morgantown High, Charleston Fire Department) and residential areas typically have several per building.
- Build light sources in a Workshop or C.A.M.P. (x9): Lamps, lanterns, and neon light fixtures placed in your CAMP or a captured Workshop each count. Workshop tables let you build several quickly in one session.
- Plant a Crop in a Workshop or C.A.M.P. (x25): Capture a Workshop that has crop plots (Hemlock Holes Maintenance is compact and defensible), then plant 25 crops. Your CAMP's crop slots count as well.
- Collect Caps (x2500): Accumulates naturally through vendor sales, event rewards, and looting. Running multiple Big Bloom events this week generates caps alongside challenge progress.
- Sell Scorchbeast Steak to an NPC vendor: Craft Scorchbeast Steak at a cooking station using Scorchbeast Meat (dropped by Scorchbeasts), then sell one to any NPC vendor at Foundation, Crater, Whitespring, or any trading post. Only one sale is required.
