Daily Fallout 76 Briefing - May 14, 2026

Active Events Today

Double Mutations and Treasure Hunter

May 14 – May 18, 2026

Starting today at and running through , Double Mutations causes every enemy in Appalachia to spawn with two legendary mutations instead of one — maximum loot efficiency for any legendary farming run. Treasure Hunter runs simultaneously, sending Mole Miners across the map carrying Treasure Maps that reward cached loot on turn-in.

Purple Axolotl of the Month

May 5 – June 2, 2026

The Purple Axolotl is catchable this month exclusively in Skyline Valley and Cranberry Bog at small fishing spots. With 18 days remaining in the window, use any Cranberry Bog challenge run today to combine axolotl fishing with the Angler kills on your daily list.

Today's Daily Ops

ModeUplink
LocationUncanny Caverns
EnemiesOvergrown
MutationsPiercing Gaze, Group Regeneration

Mutation breakdown:

  • Piercing Gaze — Enemies can detect players through stealth; sneak builds and invisibility effects provide no defensive advantage, so engage in open combat rather than relying on stealth positioning.
  • Group Regeneration — Enemies recover health rapidly when near allies; spreading damage across the group prevents any one target from healing back to full before you down it.

Strategy: Uplink tasks you with defending radio transmitter uplink points — enemies must be killed before they can sever the signal at each objective. The Overgrown are plant-mutated melee fighters that close distance quickly in Uncanny Caverns' tight corridors. With Piercing Gaze active, commit to upfront positioning near the transmitters so you intercept incoming enemies before they reach the objective rather than playing a cat-and-mouse stealth game. Group Regeneration punishes distributing fire across many targets at once — focus one Overgrown down fully before switching, or use explosive splash weapons to chip multiple enemies simultaneously and reset their regeneration windows.

Today's Daily Challenges

ChallengeSCORE
Gold Star: Complete a Daily Challenge (x6)1000
Eat a Cake, Pie, or Candy (x10)250
Collect a Lighter, Cigarette or Cigar (x5)250
Drink Nuka-Cola Cranberry (x2)250
Gain XP (x2500)250
Kill a Snallygaster (x3)250
Kill an Angler (x5)250
Scrap junk to produce Asbestos (x5)250

Quick completion tips:

  • Gold Star: Complete a Daily Challenge (x6): Knock out any six of the challenges below and the Gold Star bonus credits automatically — completing all eight is easy today.
  • Eat a Cake, Pie, or Candy (x10): Sugar Bombs, Fancy Lads Snack Cakes, Gumdrops, and Perfectly Preserved Pie all count. Kitchens, cafeteria areas, and vending machines across Appalachia stock them reliably. Morgantown and Flatwoods homes hold enough for 10 in one loop.
  • Collect a Lighter, Cigarette or Cigar (x5): Lighters, cigarette packs, and cigar boxes spawn as loose world items on countertops, desks, and shelves in homes and offices. Morgantown Airport, Flatwoods, and Grafton offer dense indoor areas — five pickups is one quick building sweep.
  • Drink Nuka-Cola Cranberry (x2): Nuka-Cola Cranberry appears in Nuka-Cola machines at Nuka-World on Tour and in vending machines around the map. Whitespring Resort's bar area and player-run vending machines are reliable fallbacks if you can't find it in the world.
  • Gain XP (x2500): This accrues passively from combat and quest activity. A single run of today's Daily Ops at Uncanny Caverns covers a large portion of the requirement, and any Treasure Hunter Mole Miner farm run will push you over the top.
  • Kill a Snallygaster (x3): Snallygasters spawn reliably near the Flooded Trainyard in The Mire, at Emmett Mountain Disposal Site, and during the "One Violent Night" public event at Sons of Dane Compound. Three kills is a fast circuit of those two world-spawn spots.
  • Kill an Angler (x5): Anglers are concentrated in Cranberry Bog — Sunrise Field, Big Fred's BBQ Shack, and the wetlands around Fissure Site Prime are go-to hunting grounds. Five kills takes only a few minutes in that region, and you can double-dip for Purple Axolotl fishing at the same time.
  • Scrap junk to produce Asbestos (x5): Asbestos comes from scrapping Cigarette Cartons, Flue Pipes, Coffee Pots, and Rat Poison containers. Pre-war kitchens and offices are the fastest source — Morgantown High School or any suburban house interior yields five in a single pass.

Quick completion hints:

  • Complete a Gold Star Daily Challenge! (x3): Earn today's Gold Star by completing 6 daily challenges, then repeat over the next two daily resets. Today's set of 8 challenges makes day one easy.
  • Build a Generator in a C.A.M.P. or Workshop (x5): Place a Small Generator in your CAMP, scrap it, and rebuild it five times — the cost is minimal. Workshop captures at Poseidon Energy Plant or Monongah Power Plant also count toward the five.
  • Collect Brain Fungus (x25): Brain Fungus grows on cave walls and ceilings in The Mire and Cranberry Bog. Wendigo Cave and the caverns near Mosstown hold dense clusters — 10 or more per visit is typical. Combine this with the Angler kills in Cranberry Bog for an efficient double run.
  • Complete Daily Operations! (x3): Three runs of today's Uplink ops at Uncanny Caverns clears this. Joining a public team before launching reduces run time and simultaneously satisfies the repeatable public team ops daily if it recurs.
  • Deal a Critical Hit to a Radtoad in VATS (x5): Radtoads spawn in swampy lowlands near Flatwoods, throughout The Mire, and along Cranberry Bog waterways. Charge your critical meter through standard V.A.T.S. attacks on any enemy, then trigger the stored crit on a Radtoad.
  • Drink Nuka-Grape (x5): Nuka-Grape drops from Nuka-Cola machines at Nuka-World on Tour and vending machines around Appalachia. It can also be brewed at a brewing station with the Nuka-Grape recipe if you prefer crafting.
  • Kill a Canine (x30): Feral dogs patrol Route 40 and the roads between Flatwoods and Morgantown. Wolvers in The Mire count as well. Two laps around Flatwoods or a server hop to reset spawns covers all 30 quickly.
  • Mod an Energy Weapon (x5): Apply any modification at a weapons workbench to a laser rifle, plasma pistol, Gauss rifle, or any other energy weapon — five times total. Swapping the same mod on and off at the bench counts.
  • Scrap junk to produce Wood (x30): Wood Scraps, Pencils, Extinguisher Handles, and Tongs all yield wood when scrapped. A single pass through a pre-war school or suburban house interior gathers enough in one sweep.
  • Sell Mirelurk Queen Steak to an NPC vendor: Obtain Mirelurk Queen Meat from a Queen encounter — events like "Fly Swatter" or "Encryptid" are reliable spawns — then cook it into Mirelurk Queen Steak at any cooking station and sell the steak to any NPC vendor.
