Daily Fallout 76 Briefing - May 11, 2026

Active Events Today

Spooky Scorched Event

April 28 – May 12, 2026

Today is the final full day of Spooky Scorched — the event ends tomorrow, May 12 at noon ET. Spooky Scorched variants spawn across all regions of Appalachia dropping Spooky Candy Bags and seasonal rewards. If you still need any outstanding seasonal items, today is your last practical window before the event closes.

Today's Daily Ops

ModeDecryption
LocationWatoga Raider Arena
EnemiesSuper Mutants
MutationsSavage Strike, Volatile

Mutation breakdown:

  • Savage Strike: Enemies deal greatly increased melee damage; Super Mutant melee fighters are particularly dangerous — prioritise ranged engagements and avoid letting them close the gap.
  • Volatile: Enemies explode on death; back away immediately after downing any enemy and finish off targets from range to stay clear of the detonation radius.

Strategy: Decryption mode tasks you with hunting down special "Cipher" Super Mutants — look for the distinct marker over their heads, kill them to collect keycards, then use those keycards at the designated terminal to complete the objective. Watoga Raider Arena is an enclosed venue, which makes Volatile detonation chains a serious hazard — keep your distance after each kill and resist the urge to rush downed enemies. With Savage Strike active, use the arena's pillars and walls to break line of sight against melee fighters and reset engagements from safe range.

Today's Daily Challenges

ChallengeSCORE
Gold Star: Complete a Daily Challenge (x6)1000
Scrap junk to produce Plastic (x10)250
Collect Brain Fungus (x5)250
Cook Brain Fungus Soup250
Eat a Plant-based Meal (x10)250
Kill a Burning Radscorpion (x3)250
Kill a Mole Miner (x10)250
Sell a Black Powder Pistol to an NPC vendor250

Quick completion tips:

  • Gold Star: Complete a Daily Challenge (x6): Completes automatically once you finish 6 other daily challenges in the same reset day — knock out the quicker ones first and the Gold Star follows.
  • Scrap junk to produce Plastic (x10): Scrap Jangles the Moon Monkey plushies, Battered Clipboards, Toy Cars, and plastic utensils (cups, forks, knives); each yields Plastic at a workbench and these items appear throughout Appalachia as world loot.
  • Collect Brain Fungus (x5): Brain Fungus grows inside caves and underground areas; reliable spots include the cave south of Flatwoods and Point Pleasant underground areas. Collect more than 5 — you need them for the next challenge too.
  • Cook Brain Fungus Soup: Combine harvested Brain Fungus with water at any cooking station; pairs directly with the Collect Brain Fungus challenge above.
  • Eat a Plant-based Meal (x10): Brain Fungus Soup (cooked above) qualifies as a plant-based meal — cook a large batch and eat 10 servings to complete both food challenges at once.
  • Kill a Burning Radscorpion (x3): Burning Radscorpions appear in fire-heavy and volcanic areas; head to the Ash Heap around Mount Blair or the areas near Lewisburg. With Spooky Scorched still active through tomorrow, fire-variant enemies may also crop up in other regions.
  • Kill a Mole Miner (x10): Head to the Ash Heap — Mount Blair mine pit, Lewisburg station, and the surrounding mine areas have reliable dense Mole Miner spawns; this run also counts toward the weekly Kill a Mole Miner (x30) challenge.
  • Sell a Black Powder Pistol to an NPC vendor: Pick up or craft a Black Powder Pistol (a low-level weapon that drops as world loot in early areas around Flatwoods and Morgantown, or can be crafted at a weapons workbench), then sell it to any NPC vendor such as the station vendor at Whitespring, Grahm, or any train station merchant.

Kill a Mole Miner (x30)1000 SCORE
Scrap junk to produce Cloth (x30)1000 SCORE
Scrap junk to produce Cork (x15)1000 SCORE

Quick completion hints:

  • Complete a Gold Star Daily Challenge! (x3): Earn the daily Gold Star by completing 6+ daily challenges per day; three days of dailies this week finishes this challenge.
  • Repeatable Under Rank 100: Gain XP (x10000): Daily Ops and public events each award several thousand XP; Eviction Notice and Radiation Rumble are reliable repeatable loops.
  • Repeatable at Rank 100 or above: Complete a Public Event (x3): Check the world map for active public events; Scorched Earth, Radiation Rumble, and Eviction Notice all scale well at high levels.
  • Build a Floor, Wall, or Roof in a Workshop or C.A.M.P. (x25): Place 25 individual floor or wall pieces in your C.A.M.P. one at a time; each separate placement counts once — use basic wooden floors for the cheapest material cost.
  • Catch a Fish while it is Raining (x2): Server-hop until you find a server with active in-game rain, then fish at any valid fishing spot; Cranberry Bog and Skyline Valley both have fishing locations and work for the May Purple Axolotl hunt at the same time.
  • Collect a Burnt Book (x25): Burnt Books are common loot in pre-war buildings; Charleston Capitol Building, schools across Appalachia, and Morgantown area libraries have reliable clusters.
  • Complete an Event while Wearing a Costume (x2): Equip any apparel tagged as a Costume in your Apparel menu before joining a public event; today is the last practical day to use Spooky Scorched seasonal costumes before the event ends tomorrow.
  • Consume an Alcoholic Beverage (x20): Brew large batches of Nuka-Shine or Appalachian Ale at a brewing station and drink them in bulk; player vendors near Whitespring also commonly stock cheap alcoholic drinks.
  • Destroy a Robot (x30): The Whitespring Resort exterior and Enclave research bunkers in the Savage Divide have dense robot populations; clearing the Whitespring exterior loop is the most time-efficient method.
  • Kill a Mole Miner (x30): Run the Ash Heap — Mount Blair mine pit, Lewisburg, and the surrounding mine areas all have dense Mole Miner spawns; today's daily challenge overlaps here, so any run counts toward both.
  • Scrap junk to produce Cloth (x30): Scrap Pre-War Money, which yields Cloth; it's common loot in residential buildings, offices, and most pre-war locations throughout Appalachia.
  • Scrap junk to produce Cork (x15): Scrap Wine Bottles found in kitchens, restaurants, and upscale areas like the Whitespring Resort; each Wine Bottle yields Cork when scrapped.
