Daily Fallout 76 Briefing - May 7, 2026

Scrip Surplus kicks off today through the long weekend, Decryption ops run in Vault 96 against Fanatics with Savage Strike and Group Regeneration mutations, and daily challenges include hunting Snallygasters and Floaters across Appalachia.

Active Events Today

Spooky Scorched Event

April 28 – May 12, 2026

Spooky Scorched variants are still roaming Appalachia with event-exclusive loot including themed plans and cosmetics. Hunt them across all regions during normal exploration — they appear alongside standard Scorched and drop distinct rewards worth farming before the event ends May 12.

Scrip Surplus

May 7 – May 11, 2026

Starting today at (noon ET), legendary scrip payouts are boosted. Turn in legendary weapons and armor at the scrip machine to earn increased scrip returns, then spend at Purveyor Murmrgh for new legendary rolls. Runs through Monday — a good weekend to clear out your legendary item stash.

Today's Daily Ops

ModeDecryption
LocationVault 96
EnemiesFanatics
MutationsSavage Strike, Group Regeneration

Mutation breakdown:

  • Savage Strike: Enemies deal greatly increased melee damage — keep Fanatics at range at all times to avoid burst kills.
  • Group Regeneration: Enemies near each other regenerate health — separate clustered Fanatics and eliminate them individually before they heal back up.

Strategy: Vault 96's corridors funnel Fanatics into predictable approach lanes, which helps for Decryption defense. With Savage Strike active, maintaining range is non-negotiable — do not let Fanatics reach the data node or your position. Prioritize area-of-effect or high-fire-rate weapons to break up clusters before Group Regeneration can kick in. Clear stragglers quickly between waves so no healing group lingers near the node while the next wave arrives.

Today's Daily Challenges

Quick completion tips:

  • Gold Star: Complete a Daily Challenge (x6): Finishing any six daily challenges today earns the Gold Star automatically — work through the list below to hit the count.
  • Drink Purified Water (x2): Craft two Purified Water bottles at a cooking station, or loot them from kitchens, chemistry labs, or first aid kits throughout Appalachia.
  • Build a Bed, Table, or Stairs (x3): In your CAMP, place a basic wood bed, table, or stairs three times — scrapping and replacing the same object counts, and no materials are lost when scrapping your own builds.
  • Craft Bulk Aluminum: At a Tinker's Workbench under the Bulk tab; aluminum cans, sensor modules, and surgical trays all yield aluminum for bulk crafting.
  • Kill a Floater (x3): Floaters spawn reliably in The Mire region and around Watoga in the Cranberry Bog. Fast-travel between their known locations if the first spot is empty.
  • Kill a Snallygaster (x3): Snallygasters appear throughout the Forest region — reliable spawn points include the area near Sunnytop Ski Lanes and Eastern Regional Penitentiary. Kill three to satisfy both this challenge and the camera challenge below.
  • Repair Armor, Weapons, or Power Armor (x5): Drop the condition on any five gear pieces and repair at a workbench; five quick repairs at your CAMP weapons or armor bench is the fastest method.
  • Take a Camera Picture of a Snallygaster: Equip your camera before approaching Snallygaster spawns (Pip-Boy → Apparel → Camera on PC/console). Snap the photo before the kill to complete both Snallygaster challenges in a single encounter.

Quick completion hints:

  • Complete a Gold Star Daily Challenge! (x3): Stack across three separate reset days — earn the daily Gold Star each day by completing at least six dailies.
  • Build a Floor, Wall, or Roof (x25): In your CAMP, repeatedly place and scrap a basic wood floor or wall — 25 placements needed, each scrap-and-rebuild cycle counts toward the total.
  • Catch a Fish while it is Raining (x2): Server-hop at Summersville Lake or Spruce Knob Lake until you land a rainy instance, then cast your fishing rod. May is Axolotl season in Skyline Valley and Cranberry Bog if you want to combine fishing objectives.
  • Collect a Burnt Book (x25): Charleston, Morgantown, and Flatwoods have the highest densities of Burnt Books on desks and shelves — library and school buildings are your best sweep targets.
  • Complete an Event while Wearing a Costume (x2): Equip any cosmetic costume piece (Bee Costume, Brahmin Mask, etc.) before joining a public event like Radiation Rumble or Eviction Notice.
  • Consume an Alcoholic Beverage (x20): Craft Beer or Wine at any cooking station using Boiled Water and corn or mutfruit — batch-craft 20 at once to knock this out in one session.
  • Destroy a Robot (x30): The Whitespring Golf Club Protectron patrols respawn quickly and are easy to farm; Watoga's streets also have abundant Assaultrons and Protectrons.
  • Kill a Mole Miner (x30): The Uranium Fever public event in the Savage Divide (south of Whitespring) spawns dozens of Mole Miners per run. Blackwater Mine also has reliable spawns if no event is available.
  • Scrap junk to produce Cloth (x30): Pre-War Money, Surgical Swabs, and Wonderglue all yield Cloth when scrapped. Sweep pharmacies, hospitals, and clothing stores in Morgantown and Flatwoods.
  • Scrap junk to produce Cork (x15): Wine Bottles are the most reliable cork source — check the Whitespring Resort wine areas or Lucky Hole Mine for bottle clusters.
