Daily Fallout 76 Briefing - May 01, 2026

Double SCORE, Double Mutations, and Caps-A-Plenty run through Monday. Spooky Scorched is live. Daily Ops: Decryption at Uncanny Caverns with Mole Miners and three active mutations.

Active Events Today

RIP Daring Mini Season

April 21 – May 5, 2026

The current mini season closes Tuesday at noon ET — only four days left to push your scoreboard rank. With Double SCORE active now, every daily and weekly challenge earns double points, so this is the best window to bank progress before it ends.

Spooky Scorched Event

April 28 – May 12, 2026

Spooky Scorched enemies are roaming throughout Appalachia until May 12. Hunting them knocks out both a daily challenge (cripple x10 legs) and a weekly challenge (cripple x30 legs) simultaneously, making this event a high-efficiency source of SCORE right now.

Double SCORE, Double Mutations, and Caps-A-Plenty

April 30 – May 4, 2026

All SCORE rewards are doubled and vendor caps are increased through Monday, May 4 at noon ET. Prioritize completing all daily and weekly challenges while this is active — the Gold Star daily alone is worth 4000 SCORE instead of the usual 2000.

Today's Daily Ops

ModeDecryption
LocationUncanny Caverns
EnemiesMole Miners
MutationsSavage Strike, Active Camouflage, Volatile

Mutation breakdown:

  • Savage Strike: An active combat mutation affecting enemy attacks — stay mobile and avoid being cornered by Mole Miners in the enclosed cavern spaces.
  • Active Camouflage: Enemies periodically become invisible. Use VATS to detect and target cloaked Mole Miners, or place explosive traps near the terminal to catch invisible attackers.
  • Volatile: Enemies explode on death, dealing area-of-effect damage. Back away from any low-health enemy before landing the killing shot.

Strategy: Decryption mode requires you to defend a terminal from Mole Miners trying to interrupt the hacking process — hold the area around the objective rather than chasing enemies outward. Active Camouflage makes VATS your best tool for locating threats near the terminal, especially in tight cavern corridors. When a Volatile Mole Miner is nearly dead, create separation before finishing it to avoid catching the explosion radius.

Today's Daily Challenges

ChallengeSCORE
Gold Star: Complete a Daily Challenge (x6)2000
Consume an Alcoholic Beverage (x5)500
Craft a Grenade, Mine, or Thrown Weapon (x5)500
Cripple a Spooky Scorched's Leg (x10)500
Eat a Fish (x5)500
Eat a Fish Bit (x6)500
Gain XP (x2500)500
Kill a Canine (x5)500

Quick completion tips:

  • Gold Star: Complete a Daily Challenge (x6): Complete any six of today's other daily challenges to trigger the Gold Star reward. With Double SCORE active, this is worth 4000 SCORE — prioritize it. Start with the quickest ones (Alcoholic Beverage, Kill a Canine) to build toward it fast.
  • Consume an Alcoholic Beverage (x5): Beer, Wine, Whiskey, Nuka-Cola Dark, and Nuka-Shine all count. Grab them from kitchen shelves in houses, bar areas, or buy cheaply from player vendors.
  • Craft a Grenade, Mine, or Thrown Weapon (x5): Visit a Tinker's Workbench and craft any five grenades. Molotov Cocktails or Baseball Grenades use common junk materials (cloth/adhesive and steel) and cost little to nothing.
  • Cripple a Spooky Scorched's Leg (x10): Use VATS aimed at leg hit zones on Spooky Scorched enemies, which are actively spawning throughout Appalachia during the live Spooky Scorched Event. Any region works — check event map markers.
  • Eat a Fish (x5): Fish at any fishing hole on the map (marked with a fishing hole icon) using a Fishing Rod. Catch five fish, then eat them raw or cook them first.
  • Eat a Fish Bit (x6): Fish Bits are a consumable food item found in containers throughout Appalachia or as drops from fishing. Check your inventory after fishing sessions or loot kitchens and storage containers.
  • Kill a Canine (x5): Mongrels and Feral Dogs count. Common near Flatwoods, Morgantown, roadside campsites, and residential areas throughout the Forest region.
  • Gain XP (x2500): Any XP-earning activity counts — public events, Daily Ops, or clearing enemy camps will reach 2500 XP quickly.

Quick completion hints:

  • Complete a Gold Star Daily Challenge! (x3): Complete six daily challenges each day to earn the Gold Star — doing this on any three separate days finishes this weekly. With Double SCORE active through Monday, this is the week to push it.
  • Cripple a Spooky Scorched's Leg (x30): This overlaps with today's daily challenge. Use VATS leg targeting on Spooky Scorched enemies throughout Appalachia — the active Spooky Scorched Event means they spawn in greater numbers across all regions until May 12.
  • Cripple a Super Mutant's Arm (x30): Super Mutants are reliably found at Grafton Steel, the National Isolated Radio Array, the converted munitions factory area, and many locations in the Forest and Toxic Valley. Target arms in VATS.
  • Collect Pre-war Food (x20): Pre-war food items include Cram, Sugar Bombs, Pork n' Beans, InstaMash, Fancy Lads Snack Cakes, and similar packaged goods. Loot kitchen shelves and storage areas in pre-war buildings across Appalachia.
  • Complete an Event (x3): Join any public event marker on the map — Uranium Fever, Rad Rumble, or One Violent Night are reliable and repeat frequently.
  • Eat a Vegetable (x25): Mutfruit, Tato, Razorgrain, and Corn all count. Harvest them from farms (Billings Homestead, Silva Homestead) or buy bulk from player vendor boxes.
  • Harvest a Wild Plant or Fungi (x30): Wild Mutfruit plants, Blight, Wild Razorgrain, Brain Fungus, and Firecracker Berry all count. Walk through the Forest or Toxic Valley and collect from ground plants as you travel.
  • Scrap junk to produce Ceramic (x15): Coffee Cups, Bowls, Flower Pots, Antique Globes, and Fancy Lads Snack Cakes boxes all yield Ceramic when scrapped at any workbench.
  • Sell Pumpkin Pie to an NPC vendor: Craft a Pumpkin Pie at a cooking station (requires Pumpkin, Flour, and Sweetener/Sugar) and sell it to any NPC vendor such as a Responder or Crater trader. Pumpkins are found at farms and some player CAMPs.
  • Sell a Weapon to an NPC vendor (x15): Collect 15 low-value looted weapons from Daily Ops, enemy drops, or public events and sell them directly to an NPC vendor — weapons sold to players do not count.
